This article is the result of a critical review with which it seeks to launch a process to establish the role of researchers in Venezuela’s scientific work. The main purpose of this study is to: reflect on the role of researchers in public policies in science, technology and innovation. The methodology consisted of a detailed review of documents, directives and guidelines issued from the governing bodies Science in the country. Reflections underpin researcher foster the development of an active role of the scientific community in Venezuela.
