Abstract
Studies confirm that burnout has negative effects on education career students. For these motives, present study aims to identify the relationships between the burnout components (emotional exhaustion, cynicism, student effectiveness) and the academic self-regulation, the academic postponement and academic performance, in university students of the initial education career. The sample was of 148 students (100% women) between 16 and 52 years old (M_age=26.2theta, SD=6.53) from the first to the third year of studies of the initial education career of a private university of Lima-Peru. The results demonstrated that the cynicism predicts to the academic postponement (beta=.27,plttheta 5), and negatively predicts to the academic self-regulation (beta=-.24, plttheta 1). Then, the student effectiveness negatively predicts to the academic postponement (beta=-.25, plttheta 1), and predicts to effectiveness negatively (beta=.44, pltthetatheta 1). Finally, academic postponement negatively predicts the academic performance (beta=-.22,plttheta 5).
