Abstract
The earthquake occured in the southern Peru on 23 June 2001 was discussed. The earthquake was caused from the thrust faulting on the boundary between the Nazea and south American plates. The earthquake produced moderate or greater damage over approximately 60,000 Km2 of southern Peru and northernmost Chile.
