Abstract
This article presents on controlling a fishmeal dryer. A model-based predictive controller was designed to control the amount of moisture present in fishmeal. The Nonlinear Extended Prediction Self-Adaptive Control (NEPSAC) approach has been used. This approach uses a non-linear model in its implementation. In this work we study the use of piecewise affine (PWA) models to approximate the non-linear model. The use of PWA models reduces calculation time but worsens the performance of the controller.
