Abstract
This study aims to analyze how storytelling in the trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 causes an influence on gamers and leads them to generate purchase motivation. The study is positioned as a qualitative study located in the interpretive paradigm. To understand players’ experiences, 19 semi-structured interviews were conducted with regular gamers between 18 and 24 years old. The findings suggest that the storytelling of the trailer is important for the gamer; however, it is not the source of a final decision, since they see the latest reviews and videos about the product. The participants prefer to investigate the aspects of the video game since it involves financial and time investment that regular gamers keep in mind before making a decision.
