Abstract
We show that Er3+Yb3+ co-doped waveguide amplifiers, based on ion-exchange technology on phosphate glasses, can be effectively pumped by highpower and low-cost broad-area lasers at 980nm, providing over 3 dB/cm gain. © 2009 IEEE.
