Abstract
The objective is to determine the wind potential for wind energy generation as a clean development mechanism (CDM) based on climatic parameters, wind speed, and local density for six daily shifts in May 2019. The months of April and June were taken as controls. Wind speed measurements were made with a digital anemometer at 3m above the terrain. It was found that the kinetic energy of the wind ranged from 28.2228252 J to 123.48404 J. This was verified when wind power densities were calculated - gross, usable and effective with carbon nanotube blades, with ranges from 842.21 to 1544.84 W/m2; 499.43 to 946.09 W/m2; 336.88 to 617.94 W/m2 and 438.00 to 803.30 W/m2 respectively, projected at 10 and 50 m/s as minimum speed values for each one of them. The wind potential of this area is sufficient for the micro and medium electric wind turbines, and they qualify to be considered as CDM.
