Abstract
Eight patients with a proven histologic diagnosis of chordoma were treated between 1979 and 1985, in the Department of Radiation Oncology of Clinica Puerta de Hierro (Madrid). Two patients received surgery and postoperative radiation therapy to a varying dose. The results suggest that a more moderate dose of the order of 50-60 Gy., gives long recurrence-free survival. Preliminary experience with multiple radiation fractions each day to low total doses, has produced objective and symptomatic responses, although the duration of these responses has so far been no better than with conventional fractionation.
