Abstract
We interpret experimental data associated with the light-induced bistability of the spin-crossover series [FexCo1-x(btr)2(NCS)2].H2O under permanent light irradiation, and with the underlying cooperative character of the relaxation of the metastable state after photoexcitation. Relaxation curves, light-induced thermal and optical hystereses (LITH, LIOH) and transient regimes are analyzed in the framework of a non-linear macroscopic master equation. Effects of compositional inhomogenities and bulk attenuation of light are accounted for in the model and provide an excellent agreement with the experimental data.
