Abstract
Objective: To analyse the convergent and incremental validity of Single-Item of Test Anxiety (SITA) in psychology college students from Lima, Peru. Materials and methods: The sample consisted of 314 students (64.9% women) between 18 and 55 years old. The Emotional Exhaustion Scale, Academic Situations Specific Perceived Self-efficacy Scale, Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI), and the SITA were used. A comparative analysis was performed using a one-way ANOVA (convergent validity) and hierarchical regression (incremental validity). The reliability was analysed using coefficient alpha with confidence intervals. Results: The comparative analysis provided evidence of convergent validity. SITA is positively associated with Emotional Exhaustion Scale and TAI, and negatively with Academic Situations Specific Perceived Self-efficacy Scale. As regards incremental validity, SITA significantly influences the variability of TAI scores. The reliability coefficients were also adequate. Conclusions: The evidence of convergent and incremental validity of SITA was satisfactory. The scope and limitations of the study are discussed.
