Abstract
Research related to the transition economies has mainly focused on how to handle newly privatized companies, and not on how to encourage the creation of new businesses. Traditionally, the reasons for starting a business have been considered mainly economic. Recent Ideas, however, have emerged in the area of social entrepreneurship that strongly points to the existence of other reasons for a person to start a business. Several authors have addressed the entrepreneurship from the study of entrepreneurial intentions, arguing that psychological attributes and personal characteristics have proven to be unreliable indicators of entrepreneurship; however, the intentions are the best indicator of all expected behaviors. From theories that predict entrepreneurial intentions, the most recognized and used is the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Unlike other models, the TPB provides a generally applicable and consistent theoretical framework that allows us to understand and predict entrepreneurial intentions considering not only personal but also social factors. During the last two decades, entrepreneurship education has been promoted in different educational contexts around the world as a way to promote entrepreneurial cultures, promoting entrepreneurship and the creation of entrepreneurial mindset.
