Abstract
A new vector simulator to analyse time-domain electromagnetic field propagation in optical structures is thoroughly presented. The formulation is based on a three-dimensional discretisation by the finite element method. The linear system of equations is solved by parallel processing, allowing the analysis of hundreds of thousands unknowns. © 2011 The Institution of Engineering and Technology.
