Abstract
Research and knowledge production is essential for the knowledge of the society. We have different experiences like the one of the National Accreditation Council of Colombia that proposes the development of a research culture and focuses on formative Research [1]. From that experience we propose formative research constitutes a proposal for the progressive development of research capacities in undergraduate students. For this, the undergraduate curriculum at the University of Sciences and Humanities (Lima, Peru) includes the training research program, which is divided into three stages: a) basic, b) intermediate, and c) advanced. In the initial stage, basic research capacities such as curiosity, critical attitude, information management, writing, reading comprehension, argumentation, and information systematization are developed or consolidated. In the second stage, intermediate capacities such as fieldwork, experimentation, and demonstration are developed. The third stage consolidates the research capabilities of the student developed in the second stage. The objective of these three stages is therefore to create high-impact research projects, done by last-semesters students, that keep international research standards, being the products of these stages: indexed papers and theses.
