Abstract
This research seeks to characterize the research projects related to the solution of environmental and social problems from interdisciplinary research, in a public university in Peru. In the research, a systemic methodology was used where the research works are contextualized in the research model of the university. Data was obtained through the empirical technique, through a structured interview with a semi-open questionnaire. The analysis was carried out in three stages: discovery of emerging problems, identification and comparison of categories and interpretation of the information within the obtained context. The researchers who participated in the research are grouped into five areas (social sciences, health sciences, business sciences, agricultural sciences and engineering). Researchers who apply the interdisciplinary category contribute to solve 53% of the problems of research projects, but only 10.2% of the environmental and social problems.
