Abstract
1. 1. The adrenal glands from 11 alpaca fetuses and newborn were examined histologically. Glands from two fetuses which had been given i.v. cortisol were also examined. 2. 2. The structure of the glands in both pre- and post-partum specimens conformed to the typical mammalian pattern: the cortex was divisible into three zones and the medulla contained two cell types. 3. 3. The development of the alpaca adrenal gland corresponds closely to that of other Artiodactyla. © 1979.
