Abstract
Emerging economies need to encourage projects for their strengthening in the field of science, technology and innovation because they face difficulties to combat technological inequality as a mechanism to produce, access and manage new innovative developments from the generation of innovation through structured research processes. The methodology used is descriptive and with a qualitative approach based on the application of a self-administered questionnaire to teacher researchers. From the information provided by them, it was identified points of leverage focused on narrowing the gap between universities in developed countries and the universities of developing countries. The results of these surveys are the main input to design archetypes, where the problematic and the elements that influence the research culture as a growth engine of the universities are displayed. Among the results, it is shown that the archetype does not present forces to counter efforts to perform. This condition should be used through the three points of leverage identified with teachers: capabilities, resources and motivation. This will allow having a strong and growing research culture that in long-term strengthen science, technology and innovation systems in developing countries.
