Abstract
The objective was to know the writing level of academic texts of incoming students to the university; using the ethnographic method, unstructured interviews and participant observation in 240 students. The MAXQDA software was applied, a tool for the organization and analysis of qualitative data. The results indicate that the writing is not homogeneous, it is necessary to reinforce strategies regarding lexical precision, text coherence, thematic progression, grammar and orthographic rules. We conclude that the writing is a fundamental constituent in the academic activities that consolidates and reinforces the professional profile and requires strategies for planning, textualization and textual revision.
