Abstract
In a study of -17 women who underwent spontaneous abortion, no organism, either aerobic or anaerobic, was commonly found associated with the products of conception (secundines) at the time of abortion. An identifiable virus was associated with these products in only one instance, and no virus was associated with throat cultures taken at the time of abortion. We found a higher incidence of anaerobic organisms associated with these materials from spontaneous abortions than the literature Indicates. © 1974 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
