Abstract
The synthesis of novel pyrano embelin derivatives has been achieved through domino Knoevenagel hetero Diels-Alder reactions of embelin (1) with paraformaldehyde and electron rich alkenes. This synthetic approach is highly efficient when microwave irradiation is used. © 2008.
