Abstract
The Rio Doce Basin in Brazil, now covered by a closed tropical forest (Mata Atlantica), was subject to a dry climate during the Holocene, as demonstrated by geomorphological studies supported by 14C dates. Demonstration of aridity maximum from 8000yr BP is provided by strongest erosion of the slopes. -English summary
