Abstract
Introduction: During quarantine, eating patterns can be altered in the absence of clear routines and markers of time and space, in addition, the lack of physical activity causes symptoms of anxiety, fear, stress and depression that affect the quality of sleep and favor sleep. development of an eating disorder. Objective: To explore the correlation networks of psychopathological symptoms of eating behavior, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress in Peruvian adults quarantined by COVID-19. Methods: Exploratory, correlational, cross-sectional study, developed in Lima, Peru, in June 2020. 490 adults were studied through online surveys from snowball sampling, three health self-report measures were applied: Impact of ev ent scale-6, Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4) and Eating Disorder Examination -Questionnaire-7 (EDE-Q7). They were evaluated using a Gaussian graphic model of partial correlations through the statistical package graph. Results: The items that report the greatest magnitude of association are: PH1 ‘nervousness’, PH2 ‘depressed mood’, PH3 ‘ov erconcern’, ED6 ‘dissatisfaction about weight’, ED7 ‘dissatisfaction with body figure’, ED1 ‘restriction for eating‘, IE5’avoidance of intrusive thoughts due to COVID-19‘, and IE6’difficulty concentrating due to COVID-19‘. Conclusions: Dissatisfaction with weight and state of nervousness or anxiety were the central symptoms in this network. The items hypervigilance, concentration problems, depression, anhedonia and overvaluation of weight were directly related to dissatisfaction with weight and anxiety. Dissatisfaction with weight presented more comorbid connections in the structure of the network.
