Abstract
This article shows what gender stereotypes are marked by Disney princesses. According to the research, the objective was to analyze the predictive relationship of the Disney Princess films in the way of thinking regarding the ideal female and male prototype, male chauvinist, sexism, and ideas of happiness. The participants were 131 people from Lima-Perú, of them 49 men (37.4%) and 82 women (62.6%) between 16 and 59 years old (Mage = 22,85, SD = 9.05). Through exploratory and predictive correlational analyzes, it was possible to identify that stereotypes of princesses have a greater influence on people with a lower educational level. In addition, it was possible to identify that stereotypes of princesses significantly influence women and men. Finally, the princesses’ influence on women predicts the idea of an ideal male and female, macho and sexist practice, and the ideal of happiness. On the other hand, the princesses influence on males predicts only the idea of an ideal male and female; thus, demonstrating that Disney princess movies predict more ways of thinking about women.
