Abstract
Under a positivist approach and making use of documentary research, the present work aimed to describe the most relevant aspects in supply chain management, taking as a reference the theoretical contributions of Ballou (2004); Chopra and Meindl (2008); Krajewski, Ritzman and Malhotra (2008); López (2008); Polished (2014), among others. The review of primary and secondary sources together with the analysis and contrast led to the visibility that the success of the supply chain depends on the capacity of integration and interrelation of the companies involved in it. Upstream and downstream, each of the links necessary to reach the target market must meet the standards and parameters established to achieve a favorable result in all phases of the process: provisioning, production and distribution-marketing. Due to its impact on the economy, and on society in general, the study of these phases is relevant considering that their management and control allows organizations to increase their productivity, become more competitive and thus make their participation in an international market viable. or global.
