Abstract
Several studies determine that there is a huge gap in the current situation of transportation infrastructure, which requires special attention in order to balance the development of the regions, integrate and connect people; besides increase domestic and foreign trade of the countries. For this, it is necessary to generate new road projects that are efficient in the use of resources such as time and cost. This can be achieved using innovative methodologies such as Building Information Modeling, which manages and integrates data through dynamic softwares and other applications, allowing compliance with all phases of the project and using that information efficiently to avoid reprocessing and incompatibilities that result in losses and delays. In this sense, this research focuses on the application of the BIM methodology to optimize the cost and time of road projects, generating benefits for both the builder and the public entity that manages the budget of a country. The results show a significant reduction in time and a decrease in the total cost of the evaluated project.
