Abstract
The research work consists of obtaining an alternative method to determine the vapor pressure in gasoholes using a Vernier brand pressure sensor. Said method is an alternative proposal to the standardized method to determine the Vapor Reid Pressure (PVR) of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) established in the ASTM D323 Standard. The PVR is a physicochemical property that must be determined to demonstrate compliance with the technical specifications on gasohols and for these to be marketed in Peru. Therefore, a mathematical model was generated that relates the vapor pressure measured with the Vernier sensor (PVV) with the PVR, this method was validated by testing it at the temperature of 310.95 K (37.8 ° C). Likewise, an economic evaluation was made about the cost of the equipment for both methods and the cost of implementing the alternative method compared to the cost of the service in a testing laboratory. It was concluded that the alternative method has a 0.4% relative error compared to the ASTM D323 method. The alternative method was shown to be repeatable, linear, and accurate, as well as cheaper than the ASTM D323 method.
