Abstract
This paper presents and discusses the application of a Didactic Technique Using Games and Simulations of Television competitions to facilitate the teaching and learning of English, simulating the quiz show and gamifying the learning. The objective to achieve significant learnings in Spanish-speaking high school students to increase their English vocabulary. The research methodology was based on testing students before and after using games and simulations of television competitions in the class, in ten continuous learning sessions. Students had a high level of motivation to learn with information, communication, constant entertainment in class, with a great deal of activities, teamwork learning, constant interaction, which is different to traditional methods. The final result showed that the student’s ability to learn English vocabulary improved significantly. Students scored 11.1% on average during the pre-test and achieved 99.1% in the average after learning through games and simulations of television contests. © 2019 Centro de Informacion Tecnologica.
